Actual Reasons Why Do People Buy Smartwatches? [Based on Surveys]

For this section, we'll be taking a look at a survey conducted by Android Central.

As most tech geeks already know - Android Central happens to be one of the most interesting places when it comes to recording and observing user behavior.

So, keeping that in perspective, here's what the survey of 1,536 users indicates.

50.26% (772 votes) pointed to the fact that convenience was the biggest reason they bought a smartwatch.

Convenience, as they pointed out, includes staying notified, controlling the camera and music remotely, and sending out calls, and text messages.

On the other hand, 22.79% (350 votes) highlighted fitness tracking features of the smartwatch - and how they convinced them to buy a smartwatch.

Moving towards health features - to which,  17.9% of the voters (275 votes) suggested that those features were the reason why they bought a smartwatch.

Lastly, only 2.99% were lured in by the aesthetics of the smartwatch.

In another survey conducted by Business Insider based on the responses of 349 respondents - 1/3 said accessing notifications remotely is the most significant benefit of a smartwatch - for the sake of productivity, they added.

On the other hand, 27% of the people said that they just wanted something that can do more than just "tell the time".

For that reason, they chose to buy a smartwatch as opposed to a conventional watch.

And around half of the 24% of the respondents pointed towards fitness tracking and health monitoring to be among the most prominent reasons for buying a smartwatch.

Survey Also Suggests HOW Do People Use Smartwatches?

A survey suggests that 42% of smartwatch owners discussed their data with a healthcare provider, which was collected by their smartwatch.

Simply put, all 42% of those people reasonably relied on their smartwatches to keep track of their data.

In addition to that, Smartwatch owners also pointed out that they tend to work out more than the conventional watch owners - meaning that owning a smartwatch actually helped them work out more - and it contributed to their overall motivation to work out as well.

Additionally, a different survey suggests that nearly 7 out of 10 Americans would wear a smartwatch - IF they get a discount on their health insurance.

And here's a fun fact: To reap that benefit, you don't have to be an American.

If you have health insurance, call your insurance today, and ask them whether you can use your smartwatch data to get a discount on your health insurance.
